Physician Emeritus
Lina Marouf, MD
Dr. Lina Marouf is a co-founder of Retina Associates of South Texas, which she helped establish in 1996 alongside Dr. Timothy Cleland. Over more than three decades, she played a central role in shaping retinal care across San Antonio — first as a clinical professor at UTHSCSA beginning in 1989, and then as a practicing vitreoretinal surgeon whose expertise spanned macular degeneration, intraocular tumors, and retinopathy of prematurity, a cause she championed with particular dedication throughout her career.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Marouf contributed to national research initiatives and led outreach and educational programs that extended the practice's reach throughout the community. Her leadership, compassion, and vision were instrumental in building Retina Associates of South Texas into the practice it is today.
Dr. Marouf retired at the end of 2024. We are grateful for everything she built and inspired, and we wish her well in this next chapter.
